Nativity

Here are some art images inspired by the story of Jesus' birth.  Which ones stir you?

  2. Very Cool!!! I like the third one, and the first one shows who came to Jesus's birth. They pictures show how people think about what happen that day. And 6 days till Christmas and the birth of Jesus, I can't wait!!!!-Julie K

    The first is an African Nativity. The second is by Paul Gaugin. 19th century French painter whose scene is Tahitian. The third is by the Italian Renaissance painter Giorgioni. The fourth is by the 15th century Dutch artist Geertgen tot Sint Jans. I'm not sure of the source of the fifth one (I will find out). The last is Latin American in origin. It is interesting to see artistic interpretations from different settings and times. We might imagine how Jesus' birth would be revealed were it in Perkasie in 2012.

  5. I love the Geertgen tot Sint Jans. I love how the light source in the painting comes from the infant Jesus.
